Speakers from the Media, Arts, and Entertainment industry, speak about their journey to success.

The Media & Entertainment panel consists of high profile speakers with successful careers in the entertainment industries. Mahum Jamal is a Pakistani-American filmmaker based in Los Angeles who has created multiple award-winning films, including her recent film, A Good Dream.  Billie Feldman is a film producer who has recently produced a short film, Easy 4U2 Say and is also in pre-production for a movie called Elementary Blackmail. Another panellist is Bhavini Joshi, CEO/Founder of Instant Karma, a Bay Area premiere entertainment company that organizes events of many of the biggest cinema stars. Our last panellist is Shumaila Bhatti AKA Desi Bombshell, a comedian who started on Youtube and has now grown his success on Facebook with over 180,000 followers.

    Billie brings new and exciting strategies and relationships to grow and expand the brand to new areas of the entertainment space. She has led a successful career in all aspects of entertainment, including digital media, film and music. Billie began with a successful career in finance before transitioning to her dream career in entertainment, eventually working for Sony Music where she provided services for major artists including Marc Anthony and Jennifer Lopez. Since leaving Sony, she has become a producer of feature films. After mastering the studio distribution model, she developed strategies for maximizing marketing effectiveness for feature films. She is launching a new theatrical film, An Enchanted Ruby summer of 2017. Recently, her films included Mr. Church starring Eddie Murphy as the social media content producer. Some of her other films include Smoke Signals, Lenny the Wonder Dog, Thank You For Smoking, Gospel Hill and many more. Billie’s goal is to effectively change the way films are distributed through the use of the most advanced technologies. Billie continues to develop projects that combine her talent for the future of the entertainment business. Her ideas are not limited to the infrastructure of production and strong story development. Billie has continued to expand the opportunities for film financing developing ideas for a patented technology. Billie seeks to pioneer developing relationships with her audience as well as actors offering them unique entertainment experience. Currently, she is coordinating the social media team to help create awareness of the World Spine & Brain Mapping and therapeutics #SBMT for March 15 - 17th at the Los Angeles Convention Center featuring Deepak Chopra.

Imran completed his MS in film and has since created many films. His films have earned him awards and recognition but he has also earned praise for story and editing skills.     Physics Olympian turned filmmaker Raised in Nigeria and Pakistan, Bilal is a Physics Olympian turned filmmaker. Her latest film, EXTINCTION, is a dystopian future where the #MuslimBan goes extreme. Next, she is excited to lens her award winning script FORBIDDEN STEPS, a film about a Muslim cop in Chicago. Bilal is developing TV projects set both in the US and in the UK. Her feature project WAKHRI, based on a social media star in Pakistan, just got selected at Locarno’s Open Doors Hub financing market. An avid public speaker and activist, she is a co-chair of the Asian American Writer’s Committee at the WGA and a board member for the Caltech Y, her alma mater. Bilal initiated the Pakistani Oscar committee and is the founder of Pakistan’s first professional screenwriting lab (QALAMBAAZ). She is a Thomas J Watson, Women In Film, Film Independent and CAPE fellow and an active member of the Alliance of Women Directors and Film Fatales. She has a B.S. (honors) from Caltech and an MFA from USC's School of Cinematic Arts. She believes that genuine curiosity is the antidote to fear.

    Los Angeles Based Filmmaker

    Mahum Jamal is a Pakistani-American filmmaker based in Los Angeles, California. She most recently wrote and directed the feature film, A GOOD DREAM, which won 17 awards internationally - including Best Feature Film and Best Director - and was nominated for 9 other awards. A GOOD DREAM will be released on iTunes, Amazon, DirectTV and other digital platforms on May 29th, 2018. Mahum is currently working on her second feature film, ARIANNA’S CHRISTMAS, as well as developing a high school football documentary. Mahum attended Barnard College at Columbia University where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Film Studies with a minor in Religion. Mahum was raised in the Silicon Valley in a culture of entrepreneurship and innovation. Her interests include design, storytelling, digital media, and entrepreneurship, particularly projects with an artistic, theoretical or religious bent.
